My BEST Journey so far…

“My BEST Journey so far”, this is because I have had many weight management journeys but this one was the successful one, and I am still on it!!

I have always battled with my weight, back 20yrs ago when I thought I was “Small” I wanted to be big. Then I got “big” but it was the wrong kid of big, it was the big that is dangerous to your health, but I carried it well so I never knew just how big I was until January 2020 when I saw a picture of me on a beach in Mexico, the crazy thing is I actually lost 10lbs for that vacation!!

You see I had known for a while that i was large, I felt the affects of it, having asthma was always my excuse for being unfit but that wasn’t the case, sure I get out a breath easily nowadays but my endurance has increased so much I can just keep going, if you pass me while exercising you would be excused for thinking I was about to collapse, but I assure you I am not!

I also had acid reflux, I had sore joints from the excessive weight, I had weak muscles from not training them regularly enough. I would get out of breath walking upstairs, clothes didn’t fit well and I didn’t feel comfortable in most things.

My struggle with weight was not only physical, but emotional and mental also. I know how it feels to think that you aren’t good enough and to hate what you see looking back at you in the mirror, thinking your partner is losing their attraction to you.

For many years I thought I had been exercising and eating in the correct manner. It turns out that I was always over or underexercising all while eating too few or too many calories.

Finally I figured out what I was supposed to be doing, and what works for me both with food and exercise. Once I had this information I created a plan for myself, and executed it. It took me just under a year to burn off 45lbs of fat from my body, this may not seem very quick but it was perfect for me for a couple of reasons.

I didn’t want to miserable through this process and still had times where I ate a few more calories than intended, enjoyed a desert every so often when eating out with family and friends, or skipped the odd workout.

Also, the slow process of this journey allowed me to keep the weight off even when I strayed slightly, it also helped me stay in the correct frame of mind when choosing foods to eat and structuring my day, after all, life is meant to be enjoyed, so I did this all whilst getting fit, becoming healthy and losing body fat.

I still have little bit left in my weight loss journey, however that will come as a side affect of my fitness journey but I am now in a place where it is a bit easier to manage. Now is my time to help others to begin and continue on their own journeys.
